Wanderlust.

"Burning every bridge that I cross
To find some beautiful place to get lost
Well I don't know where I'll go now
And I don't really care who follows me there"

Clean fun and Fast Kicks.

This is not at all how I plan a roadtrip, but I still find it so educational :)

Summer time!!

I am freaking excited for this summer. I will soon be a college graduate with a completely useless degree (anthropology) but I don't care.... I will finally be freeeee!!!
Plans are already being made. One of my best friends will be working in Yosemite till September so there will be numerous roadtrips to go visit her.
AND I am currently planning a trip to Bisbee Arizona. What is there? I don't really know. My friend went there when she was young and it left her with a pleasant feeling. I like pleasant feelings and even more important I like new places. I even get excited when I go two cities over and it's new. I love the unknown. That's why roadtrips are so wonderful. They are so unpredictable. Anything can happen when you're on the road!!
Who knows, maybe my tire will blow out and it just so happens that saaaaay a tour bus is driving by. So they stop for us and give us a ride. And they say, hey, we just so happen to be looking for a tambourine player and a cowbell lady. Do you know anyone who might be interested? AHHH!!!
Ok I'm getting off track. My point is, summer is rapidly approaching and I have never been more excited.  :)

Bisbee, Arizona.

"With a population of 20,000 people, Bisbee was the largest city between St. Louis and San Francisco. Not only was it a city known for it's culture, it was also known for it's famous Brewery Gulch district. Today you can still see the remains of the stairs leading up to the red light houses."

"In the mid 1970's, the mining operations had stopped and Bisbee was slowly dying. But, thankfully, Bisbee was discovered and taken over by various artists. You can still see flashbacks to the late 1960's and early 1970's. In fact, some people have never left the time frame."

"Bisbee is now a thriving community with gourmet restaurants, coffee houses, art galleries, book stores and specialty shops. One of the favorite places is the Bisbee Coffee Company, where you can enjoy a variety of coffee and teas, and wonderful soups and sandwiches. But the best part is people watching. Just sit outside and watch. Bisbee-ittes are fascinating."

I am super excited to go here this summer!! It will be the best roadtrip ever.
Hands-down.

I want...

To hit the road!!! What are we waiting for??

Desert Folk

...are completely different from OC/LA folk. I found the people to be simple, honest and downright friendly.
Saturday morning at the peak of dawn I hit the road with a friend and headed out to the quaint town of Joshua Tree and found it to be all that I had hoped. Rustic cafes, an array of thrift stores with magnificent finds (I bought a sweet vest for $1.08) and endless photo opportunities for the avid (amateur) photographer. I noticed no rushing of any sort, just people sitting down with their morning paper and coffee enjoying the sweet company of others.
Other places we checked out were Bombay Beach, a city of ruins on the Salton Sea, Big Fucking Rock and Noah's Purify Foundation, which for many people may seem like a bunch of junk in the middle of the desert but to others it is a wonderland of living art.
That night we joined the locals for an open mike concert at Slab City. (perhaps you have heard of it from the popular book/movie Into the Wild) Hippies, squatters, nomads, the young the restless and the old joined together for a night of good music, hotdogs all under the twinkling star-studded sky of the desert.

LOW POINTS
getting stabbed by a cactus
getting a speeding ticket
having to go back to Orange County.
